PONTE VEDRA, Fla. (April 28, 2020) – K9s For Warriors is responding to meet the needs of veterans and Service Dogs in training by keeping our doors open and joining #GivingTuesdayNow.
Giving Tuesday Now is a global day of giving and unity set to take place on May 5, 2020 as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19. Giving Tuesday Now is designed to drive an influx of generosity, citizen engagement, business and philanthropy activation, and support for communities and nonprofits around the world.
Despite the pandemic and many businesses closing their doors, K9s For Warriors is keeping our doors and hearts open to continue to support veterans with PTSD and Service Dogs-in-training. K9s For Warriors has over 600 warrior-K9 graduate teams who still need K9s’ services now more than ever in times of mandatory isolation during COVID-19.
“While isolating is the best practice for our country’s health at the moment, isolation is something Service Dogs are meant to help veterans with PTSD overcome. Isolation and social distancing are factors that can easily send at-risk veterans on a downward spiral towards worsened PTSD symptoms,” said K9s For Warriors CEO, Rory Diamond, “It is important for us to continue to provide our services to veterans to fight veteran suicide and to help mitigate symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injury and Military Sexual Trauma. With the support of donors who respond to the call of Giving Tuesday Now, we can show America’s military heroes that their country is there for them like they were there for us.”
At a time when we are all experiencing the pandemic, generosity is what brings people of all races, faiths, and political views together. Generosity gives everyone the power to make a positive change in the lives of others and is a fundamental value anyone can act on.
“As a global community, we can mourn this moment of extreme crisis while also finding the opportunity to support one another. We each have the power to make an impact with acts of generosity, no matter how small, and to ensure the sustainability of organizations and services that are crucial to the care and support of our communities,” said Asha Curran, CEO of Giving Tuesday, “Even as many face financial uncertainty, generosity is not about size. We all have something to give, and every act of human consideration and kindness matters on Giving Tuesday Now.”
