This January, K9s For Warriors reached a milestone years in the making – the opening of our first-ever on-site veterinary clinic. Located at our Davis Family Mega Kennel in Ponte Vedra, Florida, the new Duffield Veterinary Clinic represents a powerful evolution in how we care for the Service Dogs who go on to change and save Veterans lives.
Since our founding in 2011, K9s For Warriors has relied on an incredible network of local volunteer veterinarians to provide medical care for our dogs. Their generosity helped build the foundation of our program and made it possible to serve Veterans nationwide. But as demand for Service Dogs continues to grow, so does the need for faster, more comprehensive care.
The opening of the Duffield Veterinary Clinic marks our transition from an off-site care model to fully integrated, in-house veterinary services – bringing care directly to where our dogs live and train.
For donors, this facility represents a meaningful investment in both efficiency and impact. The 4,284-square-foot, state-of-the-art clinic was designed to support our current operations while preparing for future growth, including expanded kennel capacity and additional phases of campus development. By providing diagnostic, surgical and preventative care on campus, we can reduce wait times, manage cases more thoroughly and ensure every dog receives timely, high-quality treatment – allowing us to responsibly serve more Veterans each year.
The clinic includes radiology, surgery and recovery suites, multiple exam rooms, a laboratory and pharmacy, and dedicated intake, laundry and biohazard spaces. Services such as spays, neuters, dentals, imaging and complex diagnostic workups that were once handled off-site can now be completed efficiently in-house. This allows dogs to move through training and placement more smoothly, helping reduce wait times for Warriors ready to be paired.
