Confidence and Freedom to Live

September 12, 2001 — the day Ryan Jackson’s life was changed forever.

Jackson, still a senior in high school at the time, remembers the horror of watching the towers go down. The deadliest terror attack in U.S. history.

The very next day, he was in the U.S. Army recruiter’s office, signing his name on the dotted line.

Warrior David Says He’s “Living Proof” of Your Impact

“Have you seen Forest Gump?” asked 17-year U.S Marine Corps veteran Keith Hudson.

“It felt like I was running and running, and I couldn’t stop.”

Salute to Service Dogs: Celebrating National Service Dog Day

After 16 years of service in the military, in 2016, my husband was medically retired due to physical injuries, hearing loss, a TBI and PTSD. While he served in the military, he deployed overseas 4 times; was away often for multiple field missions, he trained with the National Guard for overseas missions (which involved a lot of travel to different states), and having to attend many funeral details. While serving his tours overseas, my husband fought many battles, and was forced to face death repeatedly, more than anyone should ever have too.

Beyond the Badge: How Therapy Dogs Support First Responders

At K9s For Warriors, we see the healing power dogs have on our Veterans every day. As part of our mission, we extend that support to first responders: law enforcement officers, firefighters, dispatchers and those who are repeatedly exposed to traumatic events in the line of duty.

The Station Dog program was born out of a need to bring emotional support to those on the front lines.

Warrior Shilo Found a New Way To Live

Walk into Army veteran Adam Werner’s house, and you’ll find neon post-it notes plastered over every empty surface, all scribbled with reminders to do this and that — remove clothes from washer, pick up kids from soccer practice, Dr. appointment @ 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

He forgets to do it if he doesn’t write it down.

“Living with a traumatic brain injury is…frustrating,” Werner said.
